After one of my puppies goes to their new home, it's not unlikely that I will get letters or updates from the new parents. I've posted some of them here, so you can see what others have said.

Hello Maureen,

We just wanted to write to let you know how our little black cocker, Emma, is doing. She's about 7 months old now and is doing great. She's a bundle of energy and loves to play fetch. Emma completed puppy kindergarten a couple months ago, and passed with flying colors. I've attached some pictures, one with her older sister, Ellie (who is 21 months).

Thank you so much for breeding such wonderful pups.

Maureen,

I thought you might enjoy seeing a photo of Molly at 6 months. She loves living in the woods and as you can see loves carrying around big sticks, rocks or anything else she can find.

She has been a challenge at times but most puppies are. She has been totally housebroken since 4 months of age and we had her spade last week. We were told to keep her calm and quiet for about a week but that was not an option with her. She was raring to go the next day.

She often prances around the yard like a show dog, very cute to watch. She is very smart and looks you right in the eye as if to know everything you are saying to her. She loves to sit on our feet and rarely goes very far from us. We love her and know she found the right home. I often think of where her siblings are and how they are doing.

Take care and keep in touch,
Diane M.

Hi Maureen,

I have attached a recent picture of our little Maggie Mae - she turned 3 this Tuesday!!! I can't believe how time has flown. She is so precious and such a wiggle butt. From the minute she wakes up until she goes to sleep her tail never stops wagging. She has even learned how to smile but I have not been able to capture that on film. When company comes over she visits each one and smiles right at them, it is hysterical.

Thank you so much for our wonderful family edition, she is a joy, my husband and I can't imagine life without her.

Hi Maureen,

I just wanted to let you know how delighted we are with our new baby. Her name is Maggie or Maggie May.

She is so smart and fun. She never ceases to amaze us. She has also bonded with our other Cocker so we are very pleased about that.

If you ever need a reference, please feel free to use my name. I have passed your website onto a few friends who have seen our puppy.

Hope all is well.

Hello Maureen,

We wanted to drop you a note and picture to let you know how our babies are doing. We absolutely adore them. Since we got Bella a little over a year ago, Lucy, who is now four years old, is very motherly with her. When we brush Bella and she fusses, Lucy comes over, licks her face, and hovers over us just to make sure that we are treating her all right. It is so sweet.

They are different in some ways and alike in others. Lucy is very smart and sweet, and Bella is such a snuggler especially at night. Bella loves to play baseball with our son and has a thing with collecting golf balls. It is hilarious to watch. Even our neighbors get a kick out of watching her collect all the golf balls in the backyard and pile them under the trampoline.

Thank you for the wonderful job that you do in breeding. Our two kids just adore their “babies.” They shower them with lots of love and kisses. Attached is a picture of the two of them together.

Hi Maureen,

I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with you in awhile and I wanted to let you know that Josie, our little Sable Angel is doing just great! We added a Great Dane pup to our already adequate family and Josie took the lead and the dog was housebroken in a matter of days. Josie is definitely a leader and is by far the best doggie I have ever owned. Her disposition and demeanor is wonderful and her laid back calm personality makes everyone who meets her melt. Her tail never stops wagging and I have decided I can never go on vacation without her, she is my sidekick and oh so very spoiled!

I cannot say enough great things about her and also recognize where she came from, you are a wonderful breeder of the best puppies anyone can ask for, take care and you can use me as a reference anytime.

Dear Maureen,

Just wanted to give you a little update on our girl, Stella. She is doing just great and now that she is fully grown weighs in at about 17lbs. She still loves to harass the cat and our little dog “ Chico ”.

Stella loves to be held like a baby and is perfectly happy just lounging around. She is most happy when her sister Candy comes to visit (she is doing very well with my parents). Everyone has been very good at spoiling her, but we have refrained from feeding her from the table. She loves her cookies and responds immediately at the mention of them.

Everyone thinks she has the cutest face ever, and fall in love with her at first sight. She loves children, and is always a hit at my daughters’ soccer games.

She owns our heart and we wanted to thank you, Maureen, for blessing our family with the one and only Stella.

Love,
The Ignacio's

October 7th, 2007

Hi Maureen,

I just wanted to let you know that we couldn't be happier with little Molly. She was as good as gold all the way home. As soon as her feet hit the dirt outside, she was romping with a leaf in her mouth. After a few sniffs of her new home she had a nice bowl of water, and couldn't eat her dinner fast enough.

She is a real jewel and has taken to us immediately as we have to her. She is just great about going outside, but of course for now that is every couple of hours or less. I have had her with me all day, and I just put her in her crate and she is sound asleep downstairs. I needed to get a few things done upstairs so she seems content, maybe because the TV is on. I would like to know how you have dealt with her at night until now. She was great in the crate all night, but of course she whined every couple of hours as she needed to go out. Is there an alternative so we aren't up every night? Can we put her in an area with newspapers and she will go on that just at night until she learns to hold it? Again, she is a real sweetie.

Thank You,
Diane M.

July 14th, 2007

Hi Maureen,

This is Bob & Julie. We have been amazed at this puppy's ability to adapt. He slept in Julie's lap almost the entire hour and a half drive...hardly whined at all until the last 20 minutes of the drive. We figured he needed to pee...or was very thirsty. When we arrived at the house, he peed on the grass in our front yard. It was almost 6:00pm so we put down some food and water and he ate and drank with enthusiasm. Took him back out right away and he did his business quickly. What a brave little guy! He started exploring the upper part of the house (we have a split level) and he loves the deck out from the kitchen. He has been playing and exploring, with only an occasional cry of missing his brothers and sister.

We are naming him "Dutch". A good manly name for such a confident little pup. I was expecting a lot more crying and whining, as he has been uprooted from everything he has ever known since birth. He has been loving and playful....and I think in his own little mind he is thinking...."I can hack this... yeah...this will work".

You can be sure that your baby has found a good home. Thanks for being such a good breeder, we were impressed with your home. I asked you why your puppies were more money.....and you gave me the exact answer I expected from you. I just wanted to hear you say it.

I think "Dutch" is a real jewel. I think he is very smart. There is nothing neurotic about him, and that is a compliment to you. He won't be finding himself in the hands of the "rescue league". I am sure the shoppers for the rest of the litter will be as satisfied as we are, and feel free to use me as a reference.

Bob & Julie

Maureen,
I just wanted to give you an update on our little girl Jasmine, we bought her from you in Feb 05. She is our pride and joy. She loves to be outside and and she sits at the front door and watches everything that is going on outside. She has turned out to be a wonderful little dog and she is so spoiled. Every time we go to Petsmart she gets a new toy and she just loves to play and cuddle with her stuffed toys. She is such a happy dog her tail is always wagging, if she is awake her tail is going. Sometime soon we want to get her a little sister from you. We get so many complements on how cute she is. I just wanted to thank you again so much, she is such a joy and so funny to watch.

Maureen,
Hi, I thought you'd love to see how our little Rockee was doing after a year. His birthday is Jan. 31st 2006. My daughter, Olivia thinks his face is just soooo cute and wants to kiss him to death. Joey loves to run and roll around with him.

He really is the cutest dog in the world to us, people always comment on how beautiful he is. His siste, Gracie lives one house away and they see each other often. He loves attention from everyone who walks in the house and once they've said hi and petted him he's content and will go and lay down. He's not hyper or aggressive with the kids. He's also great with other dogs, very friendly. (He does snore though, it's so cute.) We're moving to Middletown this summer and maybe one day we'll get another puppy from you.

Thank you for such a wonderful addition to our family, he truely is loved so much!!

Talk soon,
Jack, Jackie, Olivia and Joey F.

Hi Maureen,
I hope all is well with you! Here's another picture of our Bella Girl right after being groomed. She is much cuter in person. Still has her freckles. She weighs about 12 pound now and was "fixed" last month. I also had her microchipped.

She has developed some car-sickness which we are trying to deal with. I am hoping she will outgrow it. She is just a terrific and loving companion. She loves the kids in my daycare as they love her. Her most favorite thing to do is play ball. She still has accidents but overall, her house training has gone well. I have to remind myself that she is still a "puppy". I love her so much and thank you for giving her to us.

Love,
Darlene

February 18th, 2007

Hi Maureen,
I just wanted to let you know that Molly and Sophie are doing great. They just had their 6 month birthday and were spayed last week. They both had all their big dog teeth now and are housetrained (except for this little setback due to snow). They love to puppy fight and eat anything that they can get a hold of.

Molly (the runt) is actually taller than Sophie (the black one). Molly's legs are soooo long and she loves to RUN. She is really full of energy. I think Sophie would be laid back but Molly keeps her stirred up. They both are very affectionate and love to snuggle and sleep with me. At 6 months their weight was: Molly 13lb 4 oz; Sophie 14lb 8 oz. We have been very good about not feeding them from the table or giving them junk food. They love Iams puppy biscuits and carrots.

Sophie has the cutest face. My husband says that you could not paint a picture of a cocker that looks like her because no one would believe it. She is just precious. Molly has that "All American Girl" look to her and strikes some poses that just pull at your heart. We are in love with both of these puppies.

I am attaching a picture and a movie (Valentine's Card) that I made.

Hi Maureen,
I just wanted to let you know our little girl, whom we adopted last fall has fit in wonderfully with our family. “Raven”, now known as Josie is a dream. She is a lap dog without a doubt and loves to go for a ride!

We have a bloodhound, a rottie and a cat and she just fits right in, they play all day. Our 5 year old son just loves her as well.

I cannot thank you enough for such an adorable sweet girl! Here is a recent picture attached! Take care!

Hi Maureen,
Here's a picture of Sadie and Patchez right before their one year old birthday at the end of April. They are wonderful and I am so glad I got them. You should see how they play with and chase each other, or leaves, or paper, or chipmunks....

One of Sadie's tricks is to give me "high fives". I clap my hands and say "High Five" and then she gets on her hind legs and slaps my hands with her paws!

Patchez loves to play fetch and tug-of-war with Jeff and if Jeff doesn't pay attention to him he'll yip at Jeff until they play!!

They are great and I am soooo happy with them.

Hi,
My name is Lacy, my Fiance and I picked up a puppy from you last November 30th. We just wanted to let you know that he is the most amazing dog. We love him so much. I always tell people where we got him from. Thank you so much for breeding such wonderful puppies.

Lacy A.
P.S. ~ I am trying to talk my Fiance into getting a little girl pup!

April 19th, 2006

Hi Maureen,
I bought a female puppy from you back the end of January from a litter of Venus and Tucker's. I just thought I'd send you a note to tell you how pleased I am with her!! Her name is Bella and she is just wonderful.

We have almost 5 acres and she can roam, run and dig to her heart's content. We also have part of the back yard fenced in and installed a doggie door. Bella loves it. She can come and go as she pleases. She loves being outside.

I love her so much I don't know how I got along before I got her. If I could, I would have a whole house full of them. Especially if they were all as sweet and docile as she is. Thanks for raising such great puppies. I would highly recommend you to anyone I know looking for a cocker. If you every need a reference just let me know.

Thanks again!!
Crystal W. & Bella
P.S. ~ I'm looking forward to pictures of your next litter. I love to look!

April 16th, 2006

Maureen,
Well Happy Easter! Thought I would share with you a picture of the birthday girl who turns 1 year old on Monday. Dixie Claire is one of the happiest and most lovable dogs I have ever had.

My Mom had to start chemo again in January and when she's not feeling so well from the side affects, Dixie always puts a smile on my Mom's face. She cuddles right up next to her and stays by her side. Life is back in our home, even though we are going through some bad days, we manage to laugh at Dixie playing with her very favorite toy that she plays with every day. We actually had to find a replacement for the original one cause the feet were coming off.

Hope you are pleased to see another one of your pups in a happy home.

Hi there Maureen!
This is Krysti W., I bought Mika's buff puppy on February 13th. I just wanted to write you and let you know how she's doing. She's doing really good and is VERY obedient. She learned not to go in the house rather quickly, she also knows the command "sit". We're going to enroll her in classes soon.

My veterinarian loves her! Every time we go they give her a new toy. She doesn't whimper when she gets shots. (they always gives her treats and she doesn't even put up a fight.)

I can't believe how good she is and how smart. You breed some amazing and healthy dogs. I walk her everyday and we always have people stopping us asking to pet her. She's still scared of dogs bigger than her though. She's really funny, she barks at them when they are far away but if they get too close she runs behind or between my legs, ha ha!

Anyway's, I just wanted to say thank you. Tinker Bell has made a wonderful addition to my family and has brought us much joy.

Thank you,
Krysti W.

Maureen,
Just wanted to let you know that the little buff male that went home to West Virginia is doing just super. He is just precious and has a name. We named him Hunter. He runs across the floor chasing our cat and finds him, no matter where the cat is. Believe me, he is giving the cat a run for his money.

Thank you for giving so much love and care to your cockers. We were so impressed at the wonderful care you give to them.

By the way, Hunter is a Daddy's boy!!! I had figured that one out before we left your place. I will send you some photos in a few days.

Thank you,

Hello Maureen,
I just saw your ad for puppies in the Frederick News Post and I checked out your website.

Back in the summer of 1998 we purchased a female cocker puppy from you and we still have her. She was born on June 13,1998 and I believe that the dam was Nikki and I can't remember the sire.

Anyway, we still have Shula and she is the best dog we have ever had. This is our second cocker and she has a much better health, etc., than our first cocker.

We're the ones that brought our big cat when we picked her up. He hissed at her, then once he got used to her, they became best friends. Still are to this day even though both are getting to be seniors.

Well I just wanted to tell you that I am so glad to see that you are still raising cockers. I have always told my husband if anything happens to Shula then we were coming to see you and getting another pretty little girl.

Thanks again for the care and treatment you give to the puppies before they go to their permanent homes.

Thanks,

Dear Maureen,
On November 11th and 12th 2005, I entered Brittany in the Salisbury Kennel Clubs Novice Rally competition. She got both legs and that meant that the Misspillion Show on Sunday 13th she could title in Rally Novice. Well she did a great job and now has her first title.

We will be working towards Rally Advance in the summer at the Talbot Kennel Clubs show. Classes start up again after the first of the year and we are registered for agility on Mondays and obedience on Thursday.

I have never seen a dog that enjoys going like she does. Thanks again for doing such a good job with the blood lines. She might not have the long hair like the show quality cockers do but she sure has the brains and the drive.

Thanks,
Jerry R. & Brittany

Maureen,
It's been a wonderful 24 hours. The drive home yesterday was uneventful. I first headed to Westminster to visit with my niece and nephew and their two children (Jack-3, Nina-6) who had already purchased toys for Hoky & Poky. We stayed and played for about an hour and also fed & watered them. From Westminster to Herndon the puppies slept, as they did on the way from your house to theirs.

Got home around 8:30, brought the crate in and Freckles smelled it before we let the puppies out. We immediately took everyone outside. Came in and played, and got to know each other - all went well. Last time they went outside was around 11:30 and it was time for bed. They didn't cry very much or long at all, just a whimper or two. Thank you for your advice to keep them together for a while.

George leaves for work at 5 in the morning, and he took them out before he left for work - no accidents in their crate - yeah!! I hit the deck around 6:30 and took them outside again and then fed everyone around 7:30.

George called around 7:45 and wanted to know if I would bring them to his work so everyone could see them, I agreed so off we went - they had a blast and everyone loved them.

Came home, played outside for about an hour, then brought everyone in for a nap, I got ready to go to the chamber for a meeting. Everyone had dinner around 5:15, lots of play time. Good friends of ours came over and visited Freckles, Hoky & Poky tonight for about half hour and right now they are napping!!

Have only had two accidents in the house thus far. Tomorrow I will take them to our vet - Dominion Animal Hospital in Herndon. We have taken our dogs to them for numerous years.

Can't think of much else to say, again many thanks for allowing me to purchase two of your cockers - they are bring a lot of joy into the house.

I was very serious, should you and your husband want to stop by when you go to Dulles Airport you are always welcome.

Hi there, Maureen -- remember me? It's been a while since I've emailed you, but I think of you every morning when I wake up to that adorable chocolate brown fluffy face of Mandy's. She is the best companion I could have ever hoped for -- she brings me so much happiness, I could not possibly put it into words. And the other thing I marvel at is that she's so wonderful with all my granddaughters, who literally pet, pull, pat and otherwise maul her every time they see her. As a matter of fact, when I go over to visit them, the youngest, [age 3] who use to come running out to give me a hug - now asks, "Where's Mandy?"

I guess one of the best things about her is that, while she enjoys her walks and loves to chase her toys when I throw them -- she also knows/senses when I'm just tired and is content to curl up in my lap for some lovin'...and her silky-soft fur is very soothing.

She's also a big hit with her groomer, Julie, who says she has to put her at the end of her day because she enjoys making her beautiful, and she's so calm and good while she's getting "beautified" that she usually spends an extra-long time with her.

I wanted to send you a photo of 2 of my granddaughters & Mandy, and another of all of us - and thank you again for such a wonderful dog.

Fondly,
Anita B.

Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you, but I wanted to thank you for such a wonderful addition to our home. Maggie is so full of energy and joy. She has the housebreaking down pat - she has even learned to ring a bell I have hung by the door so we know when she has to go out. She has been sleeping through the night (at least 7-8 hours) for the last two weeks and adjusted to her room (crate) with no problems.

I will be sending pictures - I just have to get them developed.

She goes for her second vet visit (and another shot) Monday so I will let you know how much she weighs now. Her first visit on April 18th she weighed 5 lbs. 4 oz. - the vet was very impressed with her - especially her ears. She showed me how to clean them and suggested I do it once a week to get Maggie used to it (have to confess, I have not had a chance to start this yet).

Anyway, I'll fill you in more later and will get the pictures developed. I just wanted to thank you for doing such a wonderful job breeding such lovely cockers - not only are they beautiful, but they are so happy and well adjusted.

Again, thanks so much, we love our Maggie and when we are ready to add to the family again, we will give you a call.

DudeJust wanted to give you a Dude update,
He just turned 8 months and is doing great! He’s a beauty and a good little boy as well. The vet we go to said he’s the prettiest cocker they’ve seen and so sociable ~ made them all want to have one just like him. His groomer asked us if he could be her show dog when she does grooming competitions. Larry and I are so happy Dude has joined the family – he is a perfect fit. Thanks.

Maureen,
Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how pleased we are with the Puppy we got from you in November. Brooke is doing very well... Completely housebroken, loves to do tricks (she sits, shakes, gives hi fives, sits up pretty girl, rolls over, crawls and is currently working on peek-a-boo). We love her dearly....

She was just at the vet on friday and was spayed. The vet we used does laser surgery.. which is supposed to be much easier on them. I was able to drop her at 8 am and picked her up at 2 pm the same day!!! She was quite groggy until about midnight, but then returned to normal.... She now weighs 17 lbs.. Vet says she's about perfect!!!

Brooke is one of the best things that has happened for us... She is the friendliest, smartest girl and we love her very much...

I will try to send pics soon... I'm having trouble with my digital camera....

Brooke's brother (Harry Rex) is also doing well, they visit each other regularly...:)

Everyone that meets Brooke asks where we got such a beautiful dog... and of course, we give them your website and kennel name....I catch Dave checking out your website frequently, then he calls me over to check out all the new puppy pics...Brooke also enjoys viewing your website...

Just wanted to thank you again for being such a quality breeder.

Dear Maureen,
BrittanyHere are some pictures of the puppy. We have ended up calling her Brittany. She is doing really great. House breaking rather quickly and I wish you could see how well she is doing on a leash. She will be starting in puppy classes in mid September. Last visit to the vets she was 5.2 lbs. I take her again on Thursday.

Again thanks and hope you like the pictures. She just loves to have her picture taken. You should see how excited she gets when she sees me with the camera. My vet said that I should give her the book to read because she is doing things for her age that she should not be doing. Oh well!!! Like I told him she came from really good stock and that really makes a difference.

Dear Maureen,
Hi, it's Rebecca Gomez. I just wanted to Thank you, yet again, for our new puppy. His name is Dashing Prince Diego but we call him Wooty. He is the best tempered little guy I've ever seen. He's been nothing short than a breath of fresh air for our family. His potty training has been a breeze. He has yet to have an accident. He goes to the door and whines when he needs out, goes out and does his business, and comes in without problem. He already knows his name, and has "sit" well mastered. I have never seen or heard of a puppy picking up as quickly has he has. Along with this email is going to be some pictures... I hope you enjoy them, as much as we enjoy him. I will be sure to keep you updated on him and send pictures as frequently as I can.

Thanks again.
Rebecca

Hi Maureen,
Race went to the Vet last Monday, and was given an A+. They all loved him in there and thought he was so adorable (But of course, we already knew that). I wanted to ask you what you used on him before I picked him up, he smelt so good. Was it shampoo or cologne, and what kind? Also, my daughter, Kayla told me she has already given your name out to 3 people at the Vet's office so far, and we gave your name to a family at our church who are looking for a cocker breeder. You never know who may call and be as lucky as us.

Pam

February 2004

Maureen,
Thanks for the papers on the light roan puppy. You mentioned you wanted to see pictures from time to time. Here are a couple of pictures we took this week. We named him Dexter. The roan colors have pretty much filled his back and are moving to the legs. His colors are really unusual. Everyone who meets him comments on it.

By the way, our vet said we must have purchased the dog from a quality breeder because all of the traits associated with a quality cocker are there. (He mentioned specifically, the large openings inside the ears, and nose. He also said the overall shape of the head and body were excellent.)

Dexter has been a real pleasure to have around. He retrieves naturally. He's quite good at it already. Thanks for the great pet! Enjoy the pictures.

Back in December of 2001, my sons and I purchased an adorable female cocker from you – sired by Notorious Hunter and the mother was Sassie McKenzie. She is now the most wonderful little girl (and I mean little girl – she is spoiled rotten and doesn’t believe for one instant she is a – shhhhhhh - “dog”.

We get nothing but rave compliments about her temperament, behavior, and overall wonderful disposition. Other than being just a little bit chubby (we’re working on that part) she is perfect. In the very near future she has her evaluation to be a Therapy Dog, and I’m sure it will work well.

Her name is Skye Blue and she is black and tan – she looks very much like your Funny Face Mika. I know out of the litter from which Skye came there was another female – are they perchance sisters? I believe Skye was born on 10/26/01.

In any event, we love her. She sits in a chair like a person – told to “sit pretty” she sits up, her back against the chair, one arm on the arm of the chair and just looks expectantly around the room for adoration she believes is due her.

Thank you very much for Skye Blue and your time this morning.
